Synopsis

Rapture is a young man born into a small world. A hut, a lake, a forest, all barred with walls of towering wood, that is all he has ever known. Yet the day soon arrives when those walls must come down, and the boy is thrust into the wider reality that lay beyond. The world outside is vast, yet cold and empty. Bathed in the ashes of the world tree, more than mortal men toil at the mercy of oft indifferent and sometimes malevolent gods. There are those who fight those gods, such as the forces of Abel and Cain who see them as malevolent monstrosities. There are those who worship the gods, such as Rapture's own mother and all those of her line, who wilfully bare the price of doing so to the ends of their days. Then there are those who care nothing for the gods and fight amongst each other instead, like the many empires and kingdoms all across the dying landscape. This is the world into which Rapture wakes, a world into which he must now find his place, and a world for which his mere existence will ripple into war, a world that was already on the brink of ruin before he even awoke, and will likely not be made better by the path he is destined to tread.
